HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ACL/AD19.11.29 contd. -2- speeds of 2000 and 2500 R.P.M. At lower speeds there was no difference. It will be remembered that the camshaft had the Std. cam forms except that the inlet had a 14° dwell inserted and the exhaust a 8° dwell. The angle between the cams was 120°. The following is the B.M.E.P. obtained on this occasion which, except for between 2000 and 2500 R.P.M., was identical for each tappet clearance. R.P.M. B.M.E.P. 3000 120.4 2750 123.3 2500 124 2250 123.3 2000 122 1750 119.4 1500 117.8 1250 115.6 1000 114.2 750 109.5 We can however, easily check this again on our present 116° camshaft on "China" engine. We will next test the 116° camshaft with the compression ratio increased to restore the power to the same as the 110° camshaft at the low speeds and test for roughness and detonation.
