(a) Nothing connected across.
(b) The secondaries of the two Remy coils in series connected across, one Remy primary being short-circuited.
(c) Ditto, but with both Remy primaries short-circuited.
(d) The secondary of one Remy coil only connected across with its primary short-circuited.

These tests are taken with the timing lever central and the length of H.T. leads 2 ft.

The maximum gaps (mm) obtained on the three magnetos were as follows :-

Magneto. A.{Mr Adams} B. C. D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Safety Gap.
Std. Watford E06. 7.9 6.5 6.0 3.7 8.5
R.Bosch ZR.6. 9.3 7.7 7.3 5.3 10.2
B.T.H. GE.6. 7.7 5.0 4.8 3.1 8.6
Scintilla. 10.95 6.75 2.4 1.15 11.8

For comparison we have also given similar results obtained on a smaller Scintilla AM-6-A and a larger Scintilla AG-6-A magneto, the results of these two magnetos being mutually similar.

(11a) Alternative utility tests utilising standardised annular spark gap of 3.0 mm. with shunted leak of 3 micromhos.

In this case the leaky spark gap is arranged to replace one of the six 3-point test gaps sparked by the magneto in (6) above, the remaining gaps being set as before to 5.5 mm.

The ranges of speed over which the three magnetos were capable of regularly firing this leaky annular gap, for any position of the advance lever, was :-

Watford E06. 490 r.p.m. to 1620 r.p.m.
R.Bosch ZR.6. 900 " to 2800 "
B.T.H. GE6. 700 " to 3500 "
