Mr. Dodd from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, We should be interested to hear how the steering of 7-EX behaves in France. We are held up on steerings because at the present moment only 3500 lbs. load has been standardised on the cross steering tube balls, and we think that 1250 lbs. is more reasonable. Springs at present in cross steering tube G.73963 - details of these springs are as follows :- Free length.......... 2.375 Length in position normally....... 2.300 - when the load is 340 lbs. on the ball end (proposed by R.{Sir Henry Royce} as standard) Therefore .075 set u p gives 340 lbs. load. Add .100 washer behind spring load on ball becomes 340 + 450 = 790 lbs. contd :- | ||
