CAMBRIDGE INSTRUMENT COMPANY, LIMITED, MANUFACTURERS OF MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTS OF PRECISION. WORKS: LONDON AND CAMBRIDGE. HEAD OFFICE AND SHOWROOMS: 45, GROSVENOR PLACE, LONDON, S.W.1. YOUR REF. Ha/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}, 9/KR. IN REPLY PLEASE QUOTE WED/EBR. November 17th, 1933. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Experimental Dept., DERBY. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your letter of the 13th instant and note that you consider the Rotational Accelerometer we have offered would be unsuitable in view of the instrument being belt driven. Your remarks would suggest that the vibrations of your crankshaft are transverse to the axis of rotation of the engine or the shaft, in which case the results obtained would not be of any value. In our letter of the 10th instant we proposed that we should supply you with one of these instruments against a firm order, and in the event of your returning the instrument you would pay a fee of £15. 15. 0. This, of course, was on the assumption that during that fortnight you would use the instrument and obtain useful information. We did not wish to suggest that this charge would be made if the instrument were not capable of giving you any results, and in such an event we should not think of making any charge. As is the case with all our apparatus, it is supplied under a guarantee that it will do what we claim for it, and should it not do so then we are always prepared to take it back and give full credit provided, of Handwritten notes: Top right corner: x3987 Left margin: To GRY{Shadwell Grylls} Thank this firm E at 20/11/33 Over signature: GRY{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
