In connection with the experimental Aerolite Pistons which we are preparing for you for test purposes, these were duly completed yesterday, but the writer regrets to inform you that, after having given them careful examination in their final state, he has decided that, owing to the presence of certain foundry defects which we thought might be eradicated during machining, it is not desirable that these pistons should be put in an engine. This will mean, unfortunately, a few more days' delay, for which we tender our most sincere regret, but we have, of course, taken steps to alter the die in such a manner that satisfactory castings can be produced and these are now in progress. We felt that you might perhaps be interested to see the piston in its final form and we have, therefore, posted to you under separate cover one of the above-mentioned castings, completely machined, from which you will be able to see the general design and proportions and from which also, you will notice that | ||
