X.4671. YOUNG BATTERY AND WILDERMAN SEPARATORS.

Of various makes of battery other than our standard makes which have been brought to our notice during the last few years, one only have we considered to have sufficiently attractive features to warrant our making tests of batteries of that make.

The make referred to is the Young accumulator which is a development of the originally called De Martis non-sulphating accumulator. We had a De Martis battery for some considerable time, and though not particularly good on capacity performance it shewed up well on durability.

We have had two Young batteries, and though the first of these has not shewn up particularly well either on capacity results or durability the second appears to be a great improvement in that it approaches the performance of our own standards and shews sign of good durability.

Further, good reports generally are going about concerning Young batteries which, as you may know, have been standardised by Bentleys and Thornycrofts.
