DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: "DUNLOPS, PHONE, BIRMINGHAM" TELEPHONE: ERDINGTON 2121 (P.B.X) EXTENSION No. 395. YOUR REF: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/21/KW. OUR REF: HEP/BMT.820. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. For the attention of W.A.Robotham, Esq. 7x18. 15th. October, 1936. (Dict. 14th.) Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 8th. instant, and would confirm that to introduce additional plant for the production of the 10-gauge light steel rim and at the same time have available plant for the existing 5.00x18 rim, involves a tooling cost of £100. The production of samples could be effected in 5/6 weeks - already indicated in our letter of the 6th. - and we would suggest that in the event of your instructing us to supply the lightened rim the tool charge should be put forward as a nett sum. This would be on the understanding that, were the light rim eventually standardised for production, the tool cost would be credited and replaced by the additional charge of 9d. per wheel over the price of existing 5.00x18 wheels, as advised to your Buying Dept. Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO.LTD. [Signature] Manager, Car Manfrs. Division. | ||
