Extract from BYS/G24.11.31. Noisy Dynamo Bearings.

This particular problem is a difficult one. We have tried a Bijur scheme, and it had to be cut off by Experimental Dept. on the 10,000 miles test, owing to the oil getting on to the commutator and causing the brushes to stick. We find that we have complaints both ways, viz: under-lubricated bearings and on the other hand where an owner uses his oil zealously. Even with the present disability we find brushes stick.

We are going into the question to see if we can find a solution, but it is not an easy matter, as we are certain if we bring the lubrication out into the open we are likely to get as many troubles from too much oil as at present from too little. In the case of too much oil, the dynamo refuses to function, and this constitutes a worse state of affairs. We are trying to find a path in between the two extremes.
