Re Easy Starting Device.

The priming device we are experimenting with does no more and no less than the use of the syringe, and as we have not yet got a really substantial device that has been well tested, I think it would be as well if we avoided fitting it to cars going abroad until we have more nearly perfected the whole scheme.

For instance, up to now, the one that has been fitted to the car I have here, 7CA, has been rather a source of worry when compared with the use of the syringe on car 58NA.{Mr Nadin} We shall have to arrange it in a simple and unmistakable manner, and make it thoroughly substantial and reliable. We have also some changes to make in the carburetter, such as a quicker adjustment of the low speed jet, before the whole scheme can be considered complete.

With the apparatus I have had failures which puzzled me greatly, as I have not known whether the failure to start was due to too rich or too weak a mixture. The temporary nature of the fitting has leaked petrol continually out of the float feed, and the back pressure valve which is used in this device has failed and permitted
