Oys - G 25620 To: Rolls-Royce Ltd. - 4 The Dunlop Co. are trying out any such scheme to their own or to your designs, because if they have anything good we should naturally like to get it on the cars over here as soon as you can/put it on in England. At present we are carrying on with Goodyears on im- ported cars. You will notice from Mr. Fergusson's letter that the Pierce-Arrow are using Rudge-Whitworth wire wheels and Stanwell rims (very few Pierce-Arrows have wire wheels). I will write the Rudge-Whitworth people here asking their opinions, and report further. Nota: The locking device I suggested on the Firestone rims was a bolt at the gap of the lock ring to keep its ends in place (sketches to yourself and Mr. Hives). They said they had formerly fitted such a device but it had always been lost. An alternative would be to weld lugs on each end of the spring ring and put a bolt in which need have no loose parts, thus:- The Firestone is the best made rim as far as we can ascertain, and is made of carefully selected materials, which | ||
