AW/TSH6/L18213 -2- as the data would be useless, the temperature of atmosphere being so low. This big radiator keeps the engine too cold for efficiency here at present. Both Brakes on Rear Wheels. - Expt. No. 2/B These brakes so far promise well. They are quite powerful enough and pull up the car very smoothly and quietly. More pressure is required on the pedal than with our present foot-brake but this seems a very desirable feature, as it would prevent one locking the wheels on sudden and violent application. They have to be kept quite dry however as with a little oil they become almost useless for stopping the car, especially when travelling slowly. The oil escape pipe should be made bigger and straight if possible. Mr Bailey has this in hand now. Messrs Platford, Nadin and Bailey have all tried the car to which the brakes are fitted and all like them especially as regards smoothness and silence. The axle period is rather bad on this car and is the same as before. More data can be given when we get more sets on the road. Several double brake axles are being made at present. | ||
