EAGLE XVI. THRUST BEARING. V4446 T3159

As stated in our last report, the New Departure No. 215 bearing has now been subjected to further tests and run for a further 20 hrs. in forward and reverse direction under the same conditions as previous test - thrust load 2,500 lbs. - 3000 r.p.m.
This brg. has now run in all 60 hrs. under these conditions.
Condition of bearing (which has now been dismantled) at completion of test was very good, the increase in float which really represents wear, only being .001".
Full particulars of tests as follows:-

FORWARD TEST. Initial float .002.

| Load on lever. Lbs. | Thrust load. lbs. | Speed of rig. r.p.m. | Time run hrs. | Average temp: | Increase in Float. |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 416.6 | 2,500 | 3000 | 10 | 81°C | Nil. |

REVERSE TEST. Initial float .002.

| 416.6 | 2,500 | 3000 | 10 | 73°C | Nil. |

Time run - 20 hrs.
Tests of 20 hrs. duration in each direction.
FORWARD TEST. Initial float .002"

| 416.6 | 2,500 | 3000 | 20 | 95°C | .005 |

REVERSE TEST. Initial float .002"

| 416.6 | 2,500 | 3000 | 20 | 100°C | .005 |

Total increase in float .001.
Total time run - 60 hrs.
Drawing of rig attached.
