COPY. X634 FN.6/WT2.10.31. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From PN.{Mr Northey} c. to Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X.7960. X.634. 129-GN. Trials. Mr. Leslie from the Experimental Dept. spent most of the day on this car yesterday with a view to trying to reduce the excessive drumming and booming, especially at the back, primarily at between 15 and 32 M.P.H. I had complained also that the torque reaction vibration felt on the steering wheel was excessive. On testing this car this morning, subsequent to Mr. Leslie doing all that he could, I was able to agree that the booming at the back had been considerably reduced, to the extent that I feel that we are now justified in using the car, but at the same time the vibration on the steering wheel at the speeds referred to is undoubtedly a bit worse. Fortunately this unpleasant characteristic is not known to a large majority of people who are given runs on this car, that is, a very few would wish to drive it when on a trial run. I have given the driver special instructions in relation to the driving of this car in order to make the best of what is not a very good job. PN.{Mr Northey} | ||
