ORIGINAL BS{A J. Barnes - Assistant Manager}/WST.) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} & E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. CO - SO. WOK. BATTERY IGNITION. R1/W21.12.31. X6095/6 We have done the following to improve igniting on our earlier system, and Delco: (1) Adopted Delco double contact maker but not their timing of one relative to the other, because it is more dangerous than beneficial. (2) It is better than Delco for HT. insulation, moisture, and water, and longer surface insulation, both HT. stator and rotor. (3) Retained our accurate governor, which is very important for proper advance with speed. (4) HT. terminals same as coil. (5) Better carried HT. rotor for closer and more even jump spark gap. (6) Contact LT. more safe and reliable. (7) Duplex earthing of casing. (8) Better ventilation of distributor by disc rotor. (9) Delco spare contacts can be used. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
