re. 20-HP. Chassis. New Position Petrol Tank Filler
Commencing 51st. Chassis in 'O'Series. GVO-11.

We came up against a 'snag' the other day at Messrs. Park Wards, London, who had fitted one of their standard bodies to one of the above chassis, when the overhang at the back seemed rather excessive. I was informed that this was quite standard and had been done on previous chassis, also was within our Coachbuilders' drawing, which I confirmed by inspection of this drawing.

The point I wish to bring to your attention is that the body in this respect agrees with the drawing, but the petrol tank filler is much too close to the body, and it is practically impossible to add petrol to the tank without damaging the body.

Apart from this there is also the question of dismantling the vent pipe which is fixed between the filler and top of the tank in case the tank has to be dismantled. This cannot be done as the body partly covers this, which the drawing allows.

I took the view that this type of body overhang too far, but they appear to have Sales' sympathy in this matter, and therefore it seemed essential in this case to arrange for a new filler which has a more rearward slope, similar to the previous type of petrol tank.

I understand C. is taking this matter up with the Coachbuilders and the Works.

I suggest that the Coachbuilders' drawing should be again gone into and either the limits for the overhang reduced or the position of the petrol tank filler re-considered, as otherwise this feature will be a continual source of complaint from the Coachbuilders.
