The disadvantages and observed faults of the Goshawk-ll spring fixing mechanism.

We think it is a definite disadvantage with Goshawk-ll type of spring fixing that both clips and sheath must be either withdrawn or fitted on as one unit. This makes it a very difficult job(which we experienced when changing springs at Laval) to remove or refit front springs. If the clips were made similar to the 40/50, or similar to the Goshawk ll. clips on the rear springs, it would be a much simpler job for fitting together. We feel confident that outside mechanics will always endeavour to drive the clips off singly in the ordinary way.
Another noticeable fault when examining these parts on 5-Goshawk-ll is the fact that the top leaf of the spring has dug into the radius of the sheath. This would account for the springs working loose quickly.
