LONDON CABLES: CLOENCO, LONDON TELEPHONE: Whitehall 0054 Joint Owners of Patents and Sole Licensing Agents for Europe of HAYES SELFSELECTOR TRANSMISSION JLC/MB. 18th April, 1939. Attention Mr. Martindale. Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., D E R B Y. Dear Sirs, The Luvax shock-absorbers have duly come to hand and we are having these fitted with our patent valve assembly. We will communicate with you immediately they are ready. We understand that you wish to try the shock-absorbers out with resistance loads on the axle, varying from 40 to 100 lbs. We will, therefore, arrange for sets of valve laminae which can be changed on site to give any axle resistance within this range. With regard to the Oyston Suspension Comparator: I would rather like to have taken one of the records we made with me as I am quite certain that we can modify our instrument to give you much more comparable readings than we obtained. The pitch frequency of the Bentley particularly at the speeds we travelled is very slow, therefore the coercion on the gyro. is somewhat prolonged. We found exactly the same effect in recording pitch on Army Tanks and have been able to overcome this entirely by adjustment of the dashpot as between the gyro. and the pen. When the shock-absorbers are ready for you, no doubt you would like us to come to Derby, when they are fitted. We should like at | ||
