Extract from EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn6/H6.7.21. X740 X.4355 X.786 X.3719. RE CARS FOR AMERICA. Item 12. Extra Lubrication. Mr. Platford reports that Springfield want to do away entirely with the extra oil scheme as they think it is unnecessary and adds further complications to the engine. Mr. Platford had of course, not agreed to this, and as Springfield have had a panic recently of pistons seizing whilst on test, the request for extra oil to be done away with has somewhat died down. He states, however, that this point is bound to come up again, and he wishes Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to let him know if with the pistons with the extra wide oil groove etc. it is possible to do away with the extra oil scheme.
