| EAG/MP. COPY. 11th. July 1939. REPORT ON PRODUCTION ON B.5 PRODUCTION. Since my last report in June on the above, Motor Panels have written to say that they are unable to let us have set of framework by July 15th. as promised. This is due to work on certain of the tools not being so far advanced as they had anticipated. They have now given us a date of August 4th. for Framework and August 19th. for Panels. I think, from the information which I gained during my last visit to their Works last week, that the real cause of the hold-up is that they have not been able to get certain machines installed as early as they had anticipated. We have received one pair of rear wings from them which appear generally to be a very good job. There are, however, one or two points which need correction, which I shall take up with them when I visit their Works tomorrow. If we can take these as the standard of the workmanship that will be given throughout the job, I think that it will be generally satisfactory. Motor Panels have asked us for sundry jigs to enable them to check shapes and help in their assembly of components. These have been made and despatched to them. We have designed a body truck for our line production and had prints sent out to various manufacturers for quotations. The alterations to the Paint Shop are in progress. | ||
