W/S. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/R.29.1.37. 1220 BENTLEY OIL CONSUMPTION. Nothing at present is being done to increase the capacity of the Bentley sump by the Design Department, because for the past 12 months we have been carrying out experiments to improve oil consumptions, and at the present moment Bentleys on test are doing 1100 miles to the gallon. We expect to stabilise the Bentley at 1500 miles to the gallon on Mobil-Arctic oil. We think that this is the right way to tackle the job rather than provide additional oil capacity for what can only be considered an inherent defect in the power plant.
