W.A. Robotham, Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

With regard to the wheels which were sent to Bramber Engineering Company, we have been in communication with them and the question has arisen regarding the offset of the rim with respect to the face of the hub flange.

I am enclosing a print showing the offset of the rim with respect to the face of the hub flange and I should like you to confirm that this offset will be satisfactory from the standpoint of clearance and track. I understand from Bramber that they have worked it out to maintain the same offset from the centre line of the rim to the face of the hub flange. This will, of course, cut down the clearance slightly between the tyre and the chassis as the tyre will be wider. If you will let me have the figure, we will instruct Bramber as to how the wheels are to be built.

For your information, the 6.00/17 India Super tyre mounted on the 3.62" rim has a diameter of 29.9" and a cross section of 6.35". When mounted on the 4.00 rim, the diameter is 29.9" and the cross section is 6.55".

I have been hoping to be able to see you at Le Mans at the time of the Race but I now find that I will be unable to be there. However, if there are any matters on which you think it would be advisable to have a talk, I should be glad to come to Derby at any time which is convenient to you.

Yours faithfully,
INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY, LTD.

Works Manager.
