10 33 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GR.{George Ratcliffe}10/JH. 12th January, 1939. The Zenith Carburettor Co.Ltd., Honeypot Lane, Stanmore, MIDDLESEX. For the attention of Mr.A.E.Palmer. Dear Sirs, With reference to our conversation with your Mr. Fisher about the floatchamber lid{A. J. Lidsey} on the D.C.42 carburettor. The writer has suggested alteration to details whereby the lid{A. J. Lidsey} would remain untouched by these works. As you are probably aware, we go to the expense of fitting a steel adaptor which necessitates altering the position of the name plate. The writer is anxious to know if you can supply the lids with the boss hole drilled, recessed and tapped .437" diameter 18 TPI R.H. instead of the present size of .375" dia. 20, TPI R.H. without additional cost. Is it possible for us to obtain an increase of the boss diameter to .750" on future lids without prohibitive additional cost? The writer would appreciate the position of carburettors relative to contract orders in regard to this matter. With reference to damaged choke butterfly plates due to backfires, the writer submitted a model to Mr. Fisher, who suggested that your chief draughtsman might be interested. We would appreciate any further information of development on this problem. Your query regarding the looking of the Phantom III throttle securing screws, was taken up with Mr. Robotham. We are of the opinion that the present scheme might be improved by swaging over the screw and in a similar manner to the brass screws on the choke spindle, cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
