E.Fowler Clark Esq, Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd, DERBY. Dear Sir, Aero Engine Magnetos. In reply to your letter of th 20th ult., the subject of which was discussed when Mr North visited you works last week, we beg to say that we have given the matter careful consideration and Mr North has discussed it with Dr Bairsto at Farnborough. It would appear that for us to make up, to your order, experimental modified magnetos, would really not be nearly so satisfactory to anyone concerned as it would be to make such machines against an Air Ministry Contract and we would suggest that you inform the Air Ministry of the modifications you require and ask them to obtain the magnetos from us. If a contract were issued for two experimental machines we should then be in the position that everything would be carried out under their supervision and with their approval and that the magnetos could, if you wished, be run on an engine for an official type test, whereas magnetos made up to an order from your goodselves could not be so used. We feel sure that time would be saved by the work being from the commencement, carried out on an official Air Ministry order, | ||
