6142 DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}V/R.14.12.38. CHILDS. B.60 DYNAMO - D.CD.107B. This scheme represents certain modifications to D.CD.586 Dynamo, which had rolled and jointed magnet case of Lucas pattern, and cast iron End Brackets. The pressed and rolled magnet case was unsatisfactory with regard to brush apertures or windows, it being found necessary to machine these larger than Lucas standard or altering the press tools, either method would increase manufacturing costs. Experimental reported that dynamo was heavier than standard, and main terminal studs might turn in service. In view of the above, we have reverted to shorter magnet case of drawn tube, extended commutator end bearing bracket to suit shorter case, adopted an existing design of main terminals, and the weight has been reduced approximately 2 1/2 lbs. without any appreciable increase in cost. We propose to leave the end brackets in their natural colour (aluminium). DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
