RE STANDARDISATION SHEET - X.7380.

Referring to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}21/E.3010.30. the four headings you refer to A,B,C, and D, were added in my opinion in a fit of enthusiasm. They were only filled in one or two standardisation sheets after they were added and fell into disuse because they were cumbersome and represented a drag upon the standardisation sheet, which prevented the latter getting through in reasonable time.

Each proposed modification is considered by this Department in conjunction with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, and in cases when it is considered that the proposed change should be introduced on production at the expense of some scrap, the necessary information is submitted to WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} first, and ultimately to you, and we think that this represents the most practical way of dealing with the position.

You will appreciate therefore that my view of this matter, and one with which Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} also concurs, is that the four headings on the sheet can be dispensed with.

BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}
