RR 238 (300 Bks.) (SF 152. 6-11-18.) MP 197880 ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS. X.4342V Oct. 28th 1921 To E.F.C Order No P.B.23. Customer's No. X.4342V Preliminary Report on C.A.V. Starter Motor Type S.C. This machine is very similar mechanically to the S.B. type, with a better finish than that machine. The carcase is of the same material (has the appearance of nickel steel). Solid pole shoes secured by one screw only are still used, but are finished off better. The brush gear and connections are of the same poor design used on the S.B. There are, however, one or two improvements. The main terminals are set further apart. Insulated brush pigtails, and soft brushes, Morganite C.M.3 are supplied. The armature is fairly neatly wound, no banding wires being used. Ball-bearings, with an oilway to each bearing, are fitted in place of the roller type used on the S.B. Signed C.H.P. This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
