With reference to Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}8/T11.6.30 and By3/G12.6.30 regarding the use of a percentage of Price's Compound mixed with Amber "A" for dynamometer running of gear boxes. Although the Whitemore's Compound used for this service was satisfactory, the Price's has been found to be unsuitable owing to its setting up an electrolytic action round the change speed mechanism bush. Price's has now been discarded for both gear-box and axle, and all gearboxes that have been run with a percentage of Price's are being specially cleaned out.
