DETAILS OF 3-GOSHAWK-11 AND 7-GOSHAWK-11. In order to account for the 2 cwts. greater weight of 7-Goshawk-11 we examined the two cars with the following results :- Extra weight 7-Goshawk-11 chassis. Luggage grid. 11½ lbs. Two large tool boxes on running board. 25 lbs. Due to wider running boards. 12 lbs. _____ 48½ lbs. Extra Weight 7-Goshawk-11 Body. Two doors on 7-Goshawk-11 weight 17 lbs. more than the 4 doors on 3-Goshawk-11. 17 lbs. Due to heavier panelling and second set of window raisers. 40 lbs. (estimated) Due to width of seating being 2½" greater on 7-Goshawk-11 than on 3-Goshawk-11. 40 lbs. (estimated) Due to difference in roofs (assuming no angle iron in 3-Goshawk-11) 12 lbs. _____ 109 lbs. Leaving ½ cwt. which we are unable to account for by external observation - this may either be due to different chassis weights or different body weights. In addition, owing to the tools of 7-Goshawk-11 being carried on the running boards, their mass is concentrated at 18" above the ground, while those of 3-Gos-11 being under the seat, are concentrated at 32" above the ground. This will throw the centre of gravity of the Limousine a little higher in comparison to the Saloon than it should be. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
