Front Bumper, Silver Dawn 80, 33.G.Vll.
---------------------------------------

PD.479 attached to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}'s copy, shows the alternative front bumpers possible when the D.W.S. portable jack is used on the Silver Dawn 80. The two alternatives provide for the D.W.S. jack between bumper bracket and bumper bar ( lower drawing) and outside the bumper bar ( upper drawing). The bumper shown in the upper drawing, with the jack outside the bumper bar, is preferred by Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and is similar to the scheme applied to 11.B.V. and also drawn for Silver Ripplet I. PD.471.

The lower scheme is similar to that drawn on PD.465 for Silver Dawn 60 and Silver Wraith 60, and implies a starting handle working between apron and bumper.

In each case the bumper bracket attachment face is in the same fore and aft position as shown on PD.307, but the B.V. bracket is required and the frame extension will be of the general shape used on B.38, but with the attachment position of the bracket modified to suit.

The starting handle for the flat type of bumper can be 2 3/4" shorter than that for Silver Phantom, the reduction in length occurring between the forward bearing and the handle itself.
