[STAMPED: 24 MAR 1932]

Dear Sirs,

Ref. Ha/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}S/MJ.

We are in receipt of your letter of the 22nd inst. and much regret to learn of the mishap with the fan envelope.

Would you be good enough to give us some information as to the revolutions at which the breakage occurred.

We have also just received the broken fan and from examination it is evident that the breakage took place at the tip end the two rivets being too close to blade edge. When assembling the man entrusted with this work obviously got nearer the edge on that particular blade than the others.

We propose repairing this fan and putting it under high speed tests ourselves so that you may safely put it to test again and thus convince yourself that this fan definitely will give you more air at less h.p. consumption.

We are converting a number of fans of other makes of cars and shall at the same time carry out destruction tests so that we shall know definitely the limit to which this device may be put. Are we correct in assuming that the ratio between engine and fan is approximately one to four.

As requested we are returning to you unaltered the fan for the smaller engine. Kindly acknowledge receipt and oblige

Yours faithfully,
pp COLT VENTILATION LTD.
