1180 16th April 1937 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}11/AP. J.N. Longley Esq., Chief Chemist, Messrs Ferodo Ltd., CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH Dear Mr. Longley, We have been testing M.L., which, so far, does not seem a bad lining. It has quite a big 'fade' but no vices. We are fitting a set of it to a Bentley. May I have two sets of it in Phantom III. sizes, as follows:- G.84959 - 8 pieces. G.84961 -16 " G.85270 -16 " G.84960 - 8 " We fitted a set of V.M.20 to a Bentley but as soon as it got hot is squeaked. I do not think we shall get any benefit from it. I have no use for the 'self bedding' S.6860 lining; it has a very high percentage fade once it is run in, and it squeaks very badly indeed. It seems very similar to S.5584. I have not a very high opinion of S.5805 or S.Z, we get a lot of first-thing-in-the-morning squeaks with it on Phantom III, but I think it is an improvement on M.R. At present I think the high lead linings seem the most hopeful. I have no more B.Z., may I have two further sets, as follows, as I want to try combinations of it and RL. GB.750 } GB.751 } 8 pieces each. GB.752 } GB.754 } continued | ||
