ORIGINAL. TO H.L. FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [Struck through] Copy to - C.L. [Struck through] Copy to - H.S. S E C R E T. EA/M28.1.25. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. MAGNETO DRIVE. X8100 [Handwritten] When the revised magneto couplings for EAC. were sent to Mr. Royce they were accompanied by your blue print as a third proposal shewing the type employing a taper as the means of adjustment and drive. We have now received a memo. from Mr. Royce in which he expresses a preference for this taper form of coupling, and sends a sketch of the manner in which he thinks it should be carried out. We are therefore preparing a revised scheme, and should be glad if you would now arrange to wait for this before proceeding further. Mr. Royce remarks that he thinks the original EAC. coupling should be quite satisfactory if the serrations are fine enough, but failing this he prefers the cone drive.
