To C. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} (Y2066) Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}4/MJ.15.4.30. FAILURE OF HYPOID REAR AXLES. X7350 We are anxious to obtain as much information as possible about the hypoid axles that have failed in custermers' hands. We anticipate that a customer such as Malcolm Campbell or Mr. Fairey, would be only too anxious to help us without such a request prejudicing the car in their minds as they have technical knowledge. What we should like to know is the sort of conditions under which the car has been driven, the driving conditions under which the failure was first noticed, and the mileage at which it occurred and whether any oil was added to the axle. We think that we should particularly point out that we should not blame them in any way if no oil had been added to the axle, and are only trying to find out whether the casing had lost oil for our information.
