R.{Sir Henry Royce} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to SQ. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} [Text struck through] C. to NG. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PACKARD DEISEL FUEL PUMP. E2/W8.4.31. X4433. ORIGINAL We attach herewith a print of LeC. 2879. shewing the details of the above pump and spraying nozzle. The amount of oil injected is governed by varying the stroke. This pump is simple but one would not expect it to be satisfactory. Ricardo has not a high opinion of it and states that the exhaust of the Packard Deisel so far as he has observed it is never without some black smoke.
