re 21-G-IV - Standard Hooper Special Touring Saloon.

You will remember that for this chassis 21-G-IV we took a standard Hooper touring saloon. This car so far has done very little mileage but this is the first opportunity that we have had of examining the body since it was mounted.

(1) The sunshine roof cover has already been lifted by the vacuum over the roof and looks very bad. The front edge is not stiffened according to our latest ideas, with the result that the draught in the front seat is very great and there are bad wind noises. If we can we are going to allow Messrs. Hoopers to have the car back to modify this, if not we shall have to ask Sanderson and Holmes to do the work, and we suggest that you may be able to recover the cost, if not the whole, in part, from Messrs. Hoopers. The fixing of this cover is by a lot of little round headed screws and it looks very bad. The wind noises from the front end of the roof are not abnormal but are more than we now tolerate when we have made the best we know of the job.

(2) Door Stops. - The door stops are a terrible piece of design. Already they have broken and pulled out. Derby have tried to repair them but this morning again one of them gave out. We attach herewith a sketch of the design. The bit of bent iron pulls out straight and comes through the hole in the body bottom side, whilst the screws that attach the stop to the door work loose and pull out. We suggest you will wish to take this matter up with Messrs. Hooper & Co. in connection with any bodies building for you, and we shall attempt to get them to supply and fit to this particular car an improved door stop.

(3) The quick throw ventilating scheme we do not like for reasons that you already know. one further difficulty
