1336. TELEPHONES: PAISLEY 4141/5. OUR REF. PW/IK. YOUR REF. INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY, LTD. INCHINNAN SCOTLAND TELEGRAMS: INDIATYRE, RENFREW. 13th September, 1937. S.H. Grylls, Esq., Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Mr. Grylls, To-day we carried out tests on the new design 6.50/17 tyres and we found some improvement in the silence. We should like to keep these tyres until tomorrow morning when we will have the knife cuts put on the shoulder and carry out further tests. We will despatch them to you by passenger train which leaves Glasgow at 12 noon and arrives at Derby at 7.35 p.m. The covers will be addressed to Rolls-Royce and marked for your attention. We still feel that a further modification of this tread would be an improvement and we are now having the mould recut in the Machine Shop. We should have a further set of tyres for you to test in about a week and if you are agreeable, I would like to send someone down to Derby when these tyres are ready. Meantime, if you could let us have a report as to your findings on the tyres which are leaving tomorrow, it would be helpful. Yours faithfully, INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY, LTD.
