| Nor/Hyd/L251113. Sheet.2 side steering lever, off side pivot, cross steering levers and tube, and near side pivot with a wheel and tyre fitted, was oscillated backward and forward through it. The wheel weighed 100 lbs complete with Vinot rim. The crank which oscillated the shaft on which the pendulum lever was fixed had a stroke of 1" and was driven at a speed of 300 revs. per minute. After running 10 minutes the pendulum lever broke off right in the corner at the large boss. This was a very poor show and the section of the metal at this point is very small. Mr Day is instructing a lever slightly thickened up at this point. I am putting in hand tests of the present standard pendulum lever. More of the oval section levers are being made and I will carry out dead load tests when I receive them. Steering Pivots. X.168. A pair of steering pivots P3783/4 are now being fixed up for reversal test. These pivots are experimental ones and are lighter in the U section, slightly thicker metal at root of stub and are reduced in diameter on the taper between the journals. Plain Thrust Bearing on Steering Column. X.487. The plain thrust with large bearing surfaces is now being fitted to 210K and should be running in a day or so. X/68 | ||
