re. Standard Petrol Filler Hinged Cap.

Referring to our conversation on the 'phone yesterday, when you expressed the belief that the latest form of filler cap was no less effective than the previous one in preventing spilling; from particulars available at 'N', there would appear to be no doubt that the amount of complaints they are getting in this respect are altogether greater than previously, before this cap was introduced.

We are anxious to arrive at some method simply of removing this trouble as soon as possible. One way which occurs to me to be quite simple and very effective would be to provide a hinged flap valve just inside the filler top which would be normally kept closed by a spring and would be easily opened directly a funnel or pump nozzle was inserted into the filler pipe.

I cannot find that there is any criticism of this device during the 10,000 miles running of 25-EX, nor do I remember having any trouble with this myself.
