On our cars we consider it is better to have the set, set speaker and power unit separate as it is often easier and more convenient to accommodate three small units than one or two large units. In the case of the close-coupled saloons particularly Bentley and 20/25HP. type it is perhaps preferable to have the set, speaker and power unit combined where this can be made as small as possible. A very notable example of a set in which this arrangement has been achieved is the new dual wave Philco set which we have now fitted to our experimental chassis 21.G.IV and which is the smallest combined set we have yet handled which has long and short wave tuning.

We have found that the central lubrication pedal on our chassis is certainly a bar to fitting car radio to the dashboard and it would be an advantage if our Design Dept., could eventually move this lubricating pedal to some other position. On the Bentley chassis it is almost impossible to make a satisfactory job of the mounting of car radio sets to the dash board because of this pedal.

The remarks regarding the fitting of brake rods is very interesting although we ourselves have not experienced any difficulty in this respect.

Although Messrs.Philips do not ask for suppressors to be fitted to the sparking plugs they usually insist on copper gauze being placed over the floorboards in order to eliminate interference, whereas we have found that if a Dipolar aerial is used mounted underneath the car it is not necessary to go to the trouble of fitting gauze or suppressors to the sparking plugs in the majority of instances, I am referring of course to our own cars.
