Also the pressure springs were of different rating, the first pump being a production pump, and the second an experimental pump, including an experimental spring, the latter having the heaviest rating, although the compressed loads were the same. This may have some bearing upon the fact that the percentage reductions, or the delivery differences, are not the same in both cases. The progressive reductions of the modifications are, however, still evident. As in the previous tests, with the covers complete, the needles were set at the lowest positions permitted by the operating levers (actually slightly lower than the floats "sunk" position) and these results again prove that the greatest restriction was due to the position of the needles.
