To WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X5360 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG10.11.28. BODY SUBFRAMES. We have been running experimental cars fitted with bodies mounted on subframes for 3 1/2 years. We have had seven cars with the bodies mounted in this way. These cars have been run 53,000 miles in France and they have also run about 75,000 miles in England. The Expl: Dept: all along have emphasised the advantages in the subframe. We went to a lot of trouble to fit up a car so that we could quickly change from subframe to solid mounting. We arranged a demonstration to LHS{Lord Herbert Scott}, C, SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and HO., and convinced them of the reduction in body booms and noises with the subframe fitted. We have never had a failure of any kind on the subframe bodies. We have made certain modifications to vary the flexibility of the mounting, but there has never been a case of any breakage. We are convinced by actual tests that the wear and tear on bodies is greatly reduced by fitting them on to a subframe. We attach a copy of CHC. report. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
