We send you herewith LeC 4356 showing a petrol filler fastened in the side of the luggage boot, and connected to the tank by means of a flexible attachment. The long sheet metal gallery on the top of the tank is the same as that used for the present outside filler on Bentley cars. On the inlet casting, we have shown a boss to take a vent pipe, but we do not wish this to be fitted unless experience proves it to be necessary. The breathing whilst filling takes place through the cavity between the two concentric down pipes, while breathing due to the pumping of petrol from the tank to the carburetter takes place through a small ferrule in the sealing washer of the filler cap. This vent has been so constructed to prevent water getting under the filler cap and entering the tank by means of the vent. The body drawn is the latest Park Ward standardised saloon. We have shown the catch to the filler cap at the top but if experience demands it there appears to be nothing in the design which would prevent the filler cap being hinged on the front and opening forwards.
