Hsl/LG30.4.26.

PHANTOM STEERING.

Referring to Wo2/M29.4.26. We have run weaker side steering tube springs for over 10,000 miles in France. The side steering tube springs we are proposing to fit are not as weak as those which are standard on the 20 HP. or those fitted to the Hispano car.

We have sent to Hancock 3 different strengths of spring which are weaker than the present standard so that he can choose those which form the best compromise.

We believe our critics will condemn the weaker side steering tube springs because they have been trained to be able to pick out the reduction in the selectiveness of the steering when the weaker springs are fitted.

The shocks which customers complain of on the steering wheel can only be properly appreciated when driving on the Continent, therefore we maintain the decision as regards the value of the alteration can only be judged on Continental roads.

We will keep you posted with the reports we receive from Hancock. We anticipate it will take some little time before he can say the value of the improvement made.
