A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, With reference to the question of the size of tyres to be used on Mr. Hall's Bentley for the Ulster T.T., I have delayed writing to you as I understand you have been on holiday and we have since heard from Mr. Hall that you have decided in any case to build the larger tank into the body for the Racing Bentley to be used at the Ulster T.T. This falls in with our views regarding the tyres which are as follows. It would be wrong for us to definitely say at this stage that we can go through the whole race without changing tyres because it will depend to a very large extent on what the condition of the track and the weather conditions are when the race takes place. After we have had an opportunity of seeing the track and running some tyres in the trials, we will be in a position to make our recommendations as to whether a change will be necessary. We are in a far better position to do this this year than we were last on account of the data which we obtained in last year's race and also the tests which Mr. Hall carried out at Le Mans this June. We think that there is a good chance that we can go through the whole race without a tyre change and if so the 48 gallon tank can be filled to capacity and plans laid accordingly before the race. - Continued - | ||
