(15) At R-R I used to personally approve of all new work that is to become standard for production, before it is put into the Experimental shop to be made experimentally. This is done to avoid waste of time and money. Apparently Royce Ltd. drawings are passed for production, and to be sent to customers, on the authority of some junior or inefficient draughtsman. I say this, judging by the quality of the work. Now, in conclusion, it is not a question of cost. Certain poor work costs as much as good efficient well considered designs, and it cannot pay to make parts that will not perform their functions.
