261. Experimental Department 12th November 1936. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.23/AP. Mr.W.R.Nimmo, 51 Charlotte Road, BIRMINGHAM 15. Dear Sir, Referring to your letter of the 5th inst., we recommend Ethylene Glycol or Trimethylene Glycol in our instruction book because the results of tests and our experience on our cars here indicate that no appreciable corrosion takes place when using an anti-freeze solution of the proportions specified, although it acts as a very mild descaling agent. If any difficulty is experienced in buying Ethylene Glycol as such we would mention that Smith's "Bluecol" anti-freeze is merely Ethylene Glycol and can be used instead. We do not recommend glycerine, owing to its descaling properties. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
