-2- draws attention to the fact that approximately 200 cars had to have their springs changed after being placed on test, but this trouble is now entirely overcome and it is an exception rather than rule for any springs to be changed. The chief cause for changes now being when Sales Department alter the specification after a car has been received on test. (5) KLAXON HORNS. We are having very great difficulty with the Klaxon Horn owing to cracks in the bracket of same. There seems very little hope in the immediate future of getting them without cracks. The Committee agreed that we temporarily deliver cars with cracked Horns, while the Klaxon people are trying to improve same. The job is not considered important enough to hold up delivery of cars. (6) RADIATORS. We think contracts should be made at once with both Marstons and Orme Evans for the supply of 50% each of the radiators we shall want for the next twelve months, - with an option to renew same. (20 per week from each.) This is because Mr. Whitehead feels quite confident if it ever came out we were going to make our own radiators we should be cut off at once from all supplies from outside. (7) REPAIR DEPARTMENT. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} produced a drawing of the proposed new Repair Shop, which was inspected by the meeting, and the meeting agreed that it seems very suitable for what is wanted. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} stated that in this shop he would be able to carry on repairs to 75 cars at the same time. Further details with regard to this scheme will come along at a later conference. If Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} gets this shop he proposes using this entirely for chassis and using his present shop for units. This would increase the space for units by approximately 75%. and the new shop would entirely absorb all the cars now on our waiting list to come into the Works, and give us sufficient space for coping with the whole of our repairs for the next twelve to eighteen months. | ||
