With reference to your memo. BY/Cgh.{W Clough}12/G20.9.32,
re. non-resonant type of silencer. We are issuing
a standardisation sheet for the following specification
to be fitted on all continental cars, irrespective of
what type of bonnet is fitted.

(1) Standard manifold.
(2) Downtake pipe and Front expansion box 8 SWG S/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore}
(3) Intermediate pipes 12 SWG. S/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore}
(4) Standard sliding joint.
(5) Silencer to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}646/7 with the exception that 6 holes .25 dia. are to be drilled in the first two baffle plates.
(6) Standard swanneck and nozzle.
(7) Standard end plate with cut-out.
(8) Standard suspension of silencer, with the exception that bands are preferable to prevent the distortion of the outer tube. The standard stay must be fitted to prevent the silencer being pushed back.
(9) The scheme EX.8808 is fitted to 19-EX which has run 10,000 miles in France.
(10) The only lagging is on the swanneck.
