Re Standardisation of Chassis Parts.

As an alternative to the testing previously carried out at Chateauroux, I would suggest the following programme -

6,000 miles running on English roads, these should be of good, bad and indifferent condition. Average speed should be of secondary importance.

At the end of the first 6,000 miles the car should go to Brooklands track for 500 miles. This would enable us to have accurate figures of speed, consumptions, temperatures, and braking etc. The test hill should be utilised and a given number of standing starts made.

A further 6,000 road miles should follow.

The car should visit Brooklands for a second 500 miles, and bhe previous tests repeated and confirmed.

The car should then run 2,000 miles on the Continental roads. If this amount of mileage is not run on the Continent, the difference should be finished off at Brooklands.

The test would be -

12,000 miles on English roads.
2,000 " " Continental roads.
1,000 " " Brooklands.
