To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X3725 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG27. 6. 24. DUNLOP DEMOUNTABLE RIMS. Y3725 X9941 You will remember, on previous tests we have run in France on 4-wheel brakes, we have had considerable trouble with the flanges on the demountable rims coming off when the tyre has burst and this has been lost. Before the last lot of cars went to France, all the rims were inspected to make sure that the over-lap of the demountable flange was correct. We have now heard that they have had a burst tyre and have lost the demountable flange off one wheel. We consider that we ought to put this matter up to Dunlops for consideration and suggest that this flange should have a simple form of locking device similar to what has been found necessary on the racing cars.
